Showing Off My Owl Beanie

Over the last few months I have learned to crochet and it has become one of my favorite activities. With cool weather approaching I decided to go the homemade route and make the kids' beanies this year. I saw a really cute owl beanie on The Children's Place facebook page and became inspired.
I followed the crochet pattern for a puff stitch hat from Crochet Geek and added a face with some crocheted eyes and an embroidered felt beak. The instructions for the eyes can be found on Bobwilson123's youtube page.

As you can see, none of this idea was mine. I had digital help from some crocheting experts, and they deserve the credit. However, I am proud of myself for making this. I never thought I would be able to crochet a scarf, let alone a beanie with earflaps and a face. Yippie!

My son wants one now, so I need to find a way to make an owl look "manly".
